I’m Megan Andersen – I really love taking photographs of people and their loved ones. It makes them happy, which makes me happy. There’s no better feeling in the world. It’s that simple. I like to connect with people and to capture them at their most authentic moment.
“It’s more important to click with people than to click the shutter.”
And it really is important to capture those moments. Too often, life can pass us by in a flash. Which is why I like to focus on three main areas of photography:
Happy memories is what life is all about, but they have a tendency to fade with time. So it’s important to invest in good photography and to make the most of what’s precious in life!
I’ve decided to pursue my passion after years of it being a hobby. And I’m excited! I hope you are too. Feel free to browse the site and take a look at my work; I’m not limited to the specialisms above and I don’t bite, I’d love to get to know more about you and why you might need a photographer, so get in touch if you think I might be the right person to work with you!
Want to know more? Oh, go on then…
I’ve always loved photography. I was obsessed with our family photographs as a child and would literally spend hours staring at them and scanning in all of the prints so that I could edit them to my hearts content. But I didn’t discover my passion for taking photographs until A Level Art. Mum and Dad agreed that I could have a digital camera for my 17th birthday, back when digital cameras were brand-spanking new technology. I got a Canon Powershot A20, and to this day, it’s the best camera I’ve ever used, with it’s 3.2 megapixels! I would stay up all night to take photos of the sunrise and the mildew hanging on a spiders web in the morning; I even had a Flickr account, where I became addicted to adding photos everyday; an addiction that has naturally translated across to Instagram! Despite my energies being put into photography, I didn’t actually realise that I could use my skills to any great effect, so I continued on with art and design.
I originally trained as a Graphic Designer at The University for the Creative Arts. Often, I would get distracted from my work by the cameras and technical equipment you could hire out there, building mini studios in my student house to photograph my portfolio, which is where I really began to hone my skills at using a DSLR camera effectively. After gaining a First for my degree, I dived into the world of editorial design and went from being a Graphic Designer to a Sub-Editor of 2 local newspapers across the south coast. It was tough work, but I learnt a lot, especially about social media promotion, which has lead me to where I am today. I’m currently a Graphic Designer and Social Media Marketer of a printing company in Hampshire, and I love it! I consider myself very lucky to be employed to use the skills I am so passionate about, but my snap-happy urge to be a photographer is calling, which is why I have built this website, where I can put all my self-taught knowledge into action and you’re welcome to follow my journey!
I also dabble in paper craft, making bespoke gifts for special occasions. You can see more about my personalised papercuts here!
And if you want to see more about my design work, I’d be happy to send you a link to my portfolio. Feel free to contact me if you would like to use any of my services. Enjoy!
